Just imagine, one day you wake up and find a a box nicely wrapped, with a note on it, right next to you on your bed. You take the note and start reading it. The kind words on the note make your heart brim with emotions, mostly happiness. You feel special, important, loved. Even the thought of it brings a smile on your face.
Now imagine another scenario where you wake up and find a package, maybe from Amazon or Flipkart or somewhere else. You open it like any other package you receive very often and look at the item. You’re happy to have the item but does that fill your heart with happiness as much as the former scenario did? Do you feel special? Maybe not! You’re happy but not as much as you were earlier.
This is the difference between gifting and the art of gifting.
There was a phase when one took time and patience to buy a gift, thoughtfully, and have it gift wrapped. Gone are those days now, with the digital era. Now a gift is just a few clicks on your phone. Though the online sites do give us an option to gift wrap but it still does not have the personal touch.
It is the personal touch that makes all the difference.
A hand written letter would give one more joy than a thousand wishes on their timeline. Maybe I’m old school but I feel that a personal touch makes you value the gift more than an expensive gift given to you without one. A nicely wrapped gift would give me more joy than an online delivery package as a gift. Not that it's any bad. It's just the small things that make you feel special rather than the big ones.
And this does not only benefit the person receiving the gift but also the person who is investing in it. When you put efforts to make a gift special you’re reminded of the beautiful relationship you share with the person. You are spending time and money, might as well spend a little extra effort to make it special for the both of you.
Let your creative juices flow and make the gift the way you think would be the best and special. Believe me you will feel amazing. Just think about it!
