It so happens that things go wrong when you least expect it. For me, all hell broke loose earlier this month which turned my usual Friday into a FriNay (meaning, things just weren’t going my way).
There was something special about this Friday that I had been looking forward to for a long time. There was nothing that could go wrong except the one thing that did. Out of the blue, my SIM card decided to go rogue on the very day I needed it to support me.
My phone had been flashing ‘No Service’ since morning and as I’m used to getting little to no signal in my apartment, when the first signs of my SIM card turning on me showed up I didn’t think twice. I happily packed my stuff to go ahead with my big day. The day I would get a chance to meet Team Naach and learn from them one of their masterpieces. It was only after I reached office that I realised something was not right. No calls. No messages. Not even from my BFFs (I mean SPAM calls). That seemed odd. Usually by this time of the day there are at least 4 missed SPAM calls in my logs.
I followed the drill. Reboot. Reinsert. Restart.
I even went around my office asking for a spare phone to check if it was the phone that had betrayed me. Honestly, I had faith in my SIM card and I was certain it was the phone that had turned his back on me, only to be proved wrong in the end. Lucky for me I could use the guest WiFi in the office and survived the day. It was the after office I was concerned about. Without a working SIM card there’s no use of the phone in hand outside office. I can’t use mobile data. And I had to go to a new place to attend the workshop that I had been so intently waiting for.
So I did the wisest thing I could do. I went to the nearest centre of my network provider and resolved the issue. I received a new SIM card which would be active after 4 hours. Here’s the catch. I received a text message within half an hour of getting my new SIM card (strange since ‘No Service’) stating that my new SIM card has been activated and yet I had no service. Skepticism shot up high and I was wondering if this will even work today. To top it off there was another crisis if nothing worked. My family was heading here tonight to visit me and only I have the key. If I go to the workshop, get no service, struggle to get home, and it rains like it has been for a while, unable to contact my family, what’s going to happen? The chances of me making it to the workshop looked slim.
I decided to take a leap of faith and do everything in my power to seize the rest of the day. I just couldn’t let go of the workshop and my chance to meet the two amazing people. I shared a cab with another person attending the workshop. She was an angel in my crisis. A friend I happen to make in all this chaos. I was relying on her now that I was on my way to the workshop with no WiFi to save me and yes ‘No Service’.
I am so glad to have taken the leap of faith. The experience of the workshop made me forget all the hassle I had been experiencing the entire day. The energy and excitement took over me and I was left amazed at the end of the day. And guess what? My SIM card came back to me with full signal.
All it takes is a moment that decides how you want your day to be. The moment I hugged Sonal and Nicole I knew my FriNay has been turned into a FriYay. And like magic things were now back in place. I made it back home right in time to receive my family with a smiling face and happy heart. The day sure was crazy and was one of the best days of my life. August 9th 2019! FriNay to Friday!
